Product tracking refers to the function of tracking all production from product generation to product distribution.

Product Genealogy, also known as tracing refers to the reverse path of a finished product, going back to all the production data related in the work stages.

When looking for an MES solution, you must also consider if the solution will allows all records related to products life cycle be recorded in the system’s database during production progress in order to generate the products' history and to collect information in an easy, quick and immediate way.

For each printed lot, is it possible to record the production operations carried out, the labor involved, time consumed, material consumed, and so on?

At the same time, for each “purchased” lot of raw material, semi-finished or finished goods it should be possible to track it back to the material supplier and manufacturer.
